Basic English Vocabulary for Clothing and Accessories

In this lesson, we will learn some basic English vocabulary related to clothing and accessories. Specifically, we will focus on six different phrases that are commonly used when talking about clothing and accessories: 

Hang it up, Take it down, Put it on, Take it off, Put it on the floor, and Pick it up.

1. Hang it up - This phrase means to place clothing or accessories on a hanger and then suspend it from a hook or rod. Example sentence: 

➤ "After you wash your dress, hang it up in the rod to dry."

2. Take it down
This phrase means to remove clothing or accessories from a hook or rod.
Example sentence: 

 "Can you take down my coat from the hook by the door?"

3. Put it on
This phrase means to wear or dress oneself in clothing or accessories.
Example sentence: 

 "I need to put on my shoes before we go outside."

4. Take it off
This phrase means to remove clothing or accessories from oneself.
Example sentence: 

 "After a long day, the first thing I do is to take off my work clothes."

5. Put it on the floor
This phrase means to place clothing or accessories on the ground.
Example sentence: 

 "I usually put my backpack on the floor next to my desk."

6. Pick it up
This phrase means to lift or take something off the ground.
Example sentence: 

 "Can you please pick up the socks on the floor and put them in the laundry basket?"
