 Simple Present Tense Negative

The Present Simple is learned when we first begin to study English and is used all the time.                   (O presente é aprendido quando começamos a estudar inglês e é usado o tempo todo)

It is important to know how to make negative sentences in the Present Simple.
(É importante saber fazer frases negativas no Presente)


👉Use DON´T with: I, You, We or They.

Example:

     I/You/We/They like to play soccer. (Eu gosto de jogar futebol)

I/You/We/They don´t like to play soccer. (Eu não gosto de jogar futebol)

 

👉Use DOESN´T with: He, She or It.

Example:

He/She likes to play soccer. (Ele/Ela gosta de jogar futebol)

He/She doesn´t like to play soccer. (Ele/Ela não gosta de jogar futebol)

·    It (the dog) barks a lot at night. (Ele late muito de noite)

It doesn´t bark a lot at night. (Ele não late muito de noite)

 

A. Write the negative form of these sentences and translate them to Portuguese.

 1. She has a bath every day.  Ela toma banho todos os dias.

"She doesn't have a bath every day."Ela não toma banho todos os dias.

2. Lara plays the piano very well.

B.    Read the text below and fill in the gaps with the correct form of the verb in brackets. Use Present simple negative.

This story was invented and the name of Sanjay Thakrar was not found in the bank's database, which has, since 2017, David Rasquinha as CEO, according to boatos.org (boatos.org) and (ayupp). The purpose of this lesson is to teach the use of don´t and doesn´t when making negative sentences.

The bicycle is the slow death of the planet. 

General Director of Euro Exim Bank Ltd. got economists thinking when he said: 

A cyclist is a disaster for the country’s economy: he _________________ (not buy) cars and _________________ (not borrow) money to buy. He _________________ (not pay) for insurance policies. He _________________ (not buy) fuel,  _________________ (not pay) for the necessary maintenance and repairs. He does not use paid parking. He _________________ (not cause) serious accidents. He _________________ (not require) multi-lane highways. He _________________ (not even get) fat.

Healthy people are neither needed nor useful for the economy. They _______________ (not buy) medicine. They _________________ (not go) to hospitals or doctors. Nothing is added to the country’s GDP (gross domestic product).

On the contrary, every new McDonald’s restaurant creates at least 30 jobs: 10 cardiologists, 10 dentists, 10 dietary experts and nutritionists, and obviously, people who work at the restaurant itself.” 

Choose carefully: cyclist or McDonald’s? It is worth considering. 

P.S. Walking is even worse. Pedestrians _______ (not even buy) bicycles.
